About
My name is Mia Wexford, and I am an Australian IT security specialist with a strong professional focus on VPN technologies, online privacy, and secure network architecture. My work is driven by a clear mission: to help people, families, and organisations protect themselves in a digital environment that is becoming increasingly complex and intrusive.
I graduated from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I built a strong academic foundation in information technology, cybersecurity fundamentals, and network systems. My formal education provided the theoretical structure, but my expertise was shaped by extensive, hands-on professional experience across more than fifteen years in the Australian IT sector.
From 2008 to 2012, I worked as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst at a major Australian telecommunications company. This period was critical in understanding how ISPs operate, how data is collected and managed, and how large-scale networks are secured. It gave me an insider’s perspective on the privacy challenges everyday users face.
From 2012 to 2016, I served as an IT Security Consultant supporting small and medium businesses across Melbourne. My work involved implementing security solutions, conducting vulnerability assessments, and training staff on best practices. These years taught me how to translate complex technical requirements into practical, reliable systems that protect real people.
Since 2016, I have been working independently as a Security Consultant and Educator specialising in VPN technologies, personal security strategies, and privacy tools for individuals and families. My responsibilities range from one-on-one consultations and security audits to the creation of educational materials and continuous research into new threats and emerging protections. I place particular emphasis on designing or advising on VPN systems that combine strong encryption, performance, and ease of use.
In addition to my technical work, I actively participate in Australian privacy advocacy. I have contributed to public consultations on national data retention laws, participated in cybersecurity forums, and collaborated with privacy-focused organisations to promote digital rights and raise awareness of online safety.
Today, based in Australia, I continue to focus on building and advancing privacy-first technologies that empower users. I believe that strong digital protection should be accessible, transparent, and built with the needs of everyday Australians in mind.
